W. LEOPARD 24 March 1936 J. W. (Lance) LEOPARD, 84, who was married 36 years on March 1, died at 12;05 a.m. Tuesday at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Oda Langston of the Alder Branch Community. His wife, Mrs. Louise Ann Walker Leopard, 81, is reported seriously sick. On the occasion of their 66 wedding event, they were honored with an all day get-together and family reunion.... Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m Wednesday at fields Chapel Cemetery on the Rusk Highway. Mr. Leopard was born at Monroe, La. on 4 Dec 1869 and married on March 1, 1890. He was a pioneer member of the Masonic Order Organization, belonging to the first lodge formed at Palestine. He also belonged to the Elkhart Lodge for a number of years.... Except for a short time, he lived at Rusk, he had lived in Anderson County since coming to this state from La. He was the grandfather of Coy Langston, Palestine barber.... Out of a family of eight children, five are living, they are; Silas Leopard of Palestine, Mrs. Leona Langston of Rusk, Mrs. Ida Langston, Mrs. Addie Clements of Jacksonville, and Mrs. Virgie Gibson of Oklahoma City, OK.... ***
