Contact: Bonnie Windsor 936 897-3179 On July 17, 1886, Laura M Barge died at the age of 7 years and 7 months. A few months before she had asked to be buried under a cedar tree in her yard. This was the beginning of the Barge Cemetery. The trunk of the tree is still standing though it has died. In later years Aaron Barge donated one half acre. In 1997 Charles Oliver donated another half acre, bringing the cemetery to its current size. 1. BARGE 2. BARGE ELIZ F. W. BURON WILLIAM D., SR. JENNIE V. SARAH BETH STRONG NANI’S BABY DEC. 16 1977 NOV. 26 1982 (photo) God’s Lent Child, and from the throngs that crowd life’s I’ll lend her you a little while lane, I have chosen you. A child of mine God said Now will you give her all your love? For you to love the whileshe lives Nor think the labor pain And mourn for when she’s dead Nor hate me when I come to take It may be one or 2 years this lent child back again. Or forty or 3 I fancied that I heard you say But will you till I call her back Dear Lord thy will be done Take care of her for me? For joys thy child will bring She’ll bring her charms to The risks of grief we’ll run Gladden you We will shelter her with tenderness And-(should her stay be brief)- We will love her while we may You’ll have her lovely memories And for the happiness we know As a solace for your grief. Forever grateful stay. I can not promise that she will stay but should the angels call Since all from earth return; but there for her, Are lessons taught below Much sooner than we I want this child to learn. Planned, I’ve looked the whole world over we’ll brave the grief For teacher hard and true that comes and try to understand. ---Florence Correa 66. IN LOVING 67. JESS ROBERT MEMORY WIDNER J. W.
