The entry was written in a family Bible and given to Rita Lopez Alcorta, the oldest of his grandchildren. Prior to Rita's death (1989), Rita Lopez Alcorta entrusted the book to Andrew Robles, her grandson. In 2001, the Robles family donated Lucien Marouse's original handwritten biography to the Castroville Heritage Society in Castroville, Texas. "Naci en Europ como en el ano 1843. Como al ano emigramos a Castrovil Tejas. Tendrai yo como 11 anos de edad cuando quede solo en San Antonio. Yo creo que Nuestro Dios guia mis pasas al haver de este mundo tenebroso. En el ano 1860 estallo la guerra civil duro 5 anos. En el ano 1863 fui voluntario soldado al Carfido Confederado. Lebaralista servi 2 anos. Que concluio la guerra en el ano 1865. El 1867 ubo un colera en el pail. Murio mucha jente. Creo yo no. Senor van a comensar mis penas capitales." In 2001, Andrew Robles, translated the document in English. It reads as follows: I was born in Europe in the year 1843. Within the year, we immigrated to Castroville, Texas. I must have been 11 years old when I was left alone in San Antonio. I believe that our Lord is guiding my path upon seeing all the problems of this troubled world. In the year 1860, the Civil War began, lasted 5 years. In the year 1863 I was a volunteer soldier, Private United Confederate army. I served 2 years. Then the war ended in 1865. In 1867 there was a cholera epidemic in which many people died. Why not me Lord. Lord, this will be the start of my capital pains
