Barbara Ann Byrom Driver 1520 East Drive Beaumont, Texas 77706 Layer-Simmons Cemetery Atascosa County, Texas The cemetery is located in Atascosa County near the town of Poteet. The two cemeteries are enclosed by a common fence with gates into each and the name of each above the respective gate. Directions: (1) Take Hwy. 16 south from San Antonio, Texas to Farm Road 476 just as you get into Poteet, Texas (about 20 miles from Loop 410) (2) Turn right on Farm Road 476 and go about 3.3 miles to Farm Road 1333. (3) Turn left on FR 1333 and go about 3.3 miles. (4) The Simmons Cemetery is on the left side of the road adjoining the Layer Cemetery enclosed with cyclone fencing. The name LAYER is beneath the inscription. To the left of the large monument is a double stone: PEARSON Maurice W. It is adjoining the Layer-Simmons Cemetery on the left side. One tombstone inscribed: James Bender Cpl. US Marine Corps World War II May 10, 1923 April 17, 1996 Purple Heart Beloved Gin Gin
