Cemetery is located on the right at the top of the hill. On private property. Cemetery is no longer in use. --------------------------------------------------------- Forest Family Cemetery Location: Off of FM 2828 on private property. On private ranch. 4 graves, no longer in use. --------------------------------------------------------- Goodman Cemetery (may have been Benton Cemetery at one time) Location: From intersection of 337 and 16 in Medina, go 2.2 miles north on Hwy. 16. Turn right, straight up hill across Medina River. Cemetery on right on private ranch. Historical cemetery where early settlers of Keese, Banta, Chamberlain, Miller, Benton and Goodman families. Earliest date: 1878 Latest date: 1902 --------------------------------------------------------- Gravesite FM 337 Location: From Medina go10 miles on FM 337, on left side of roaad under tree. Markers possibly removed. Private property. Elizabeth Pennington and daughter, or Two children of a family reportedly moving cross-country. Died of a mysterious fever and were buried at the site of their death. --------------------------------------------------------- Helm Cemetery Location: From Medina go north on Hwy 16, turn left on FM 2107, go six miles, cemetery is on left side of road. On private property. --------------------------------------------------------- Hicks Cemetery, also known as the Arnold cemetery Location: 3 miles north of Hwy 16 on FM 2828 on the Hicks (Hix) Ranch. Private Ranch. --------------------------------------------------------- Hillman-Evans Family Cemetery Location: From Medina go north on Hwy 16, turn left on FM 2107, go 10.2 miles cemetery is on left side of road. Private ranch. Active cemetery Families of Click, Evans, Haggerton --------------------------------------------------------- Hinds Family Cemetery Location: From Medina go north on Hwy 16, turn left on FM 2107, go three miles, cemetery is on right side of road behind house, outside of fenced yard area., on private land, no longer in use. Earliest date: Latest date: 3 graves Wilburn Hinds d 1892 --------------------------------------------------------- Honey Creek or Slaughter Cemetery Location: From Medina go north on Hwy 16, turn left on FM 2107, go 12 miles, cemetery is on left side of road in a fenced pasture. It is grown up and hard to see. No longer in use. 8 marked graves, many unmarked graves. Earliest date: 1882 Latest date: --------------------------------------------------------- Mano Flats, Single Grave Location: From Medina go 1.9 miles east on Hwy 16 (toward town of Bandera). Gravesite is behind house on private property. Eugene O’Borski d 3/27/1874 Mr. O’Borski came with the Polish to Bandera City and had his good friend Gabe Anderwald build the log home that was used as an early school. He served as the Judge of Bandera County. --------------------------------------------------------- Rocky Creek (two locations) Location: From Medina go north on Hwy 16, turn left on FM 2107, go to Rocky Creek Rd., turn right, go to end of Rocky Creek Rd. Private property. 2 children: Frank Buckelew Nancy Buckelew On Rocky Creek Road is one grave of infant born to Charles Grant and Elsie Adams Seale Infant b 8/10/1923 --------------------------------------------------------- Stanard Family / Laxson Creek Community Location: From Medina go east 2 miles to FM 2828, turn left, down 2 miles, on private ranch. Dirt road goes back to grave sites which are fenced. No longer in use. 10 graves. Earliest date: 1872 Latest date: --------------------------------------------------------- West Prong or Sheppard Cemetery (Active) Location: From Medina go 2 miles on FM 337, turn left on Coal Kiln Rd. for 1/10 mile, look for yellow sign. Earliest date: 1884 Latest date: /1902 First Settlers of families of Sheppard, Humphrey, Teggart, Love, Coleman, Lackey, Norris, Stokes, Carpenters, and many others. ---------------------------------------------------------
