I have not remarried since the death of my said husband, and I do solemnly swear that I was never divorced from said husband, and that I never voluntarily abandoned him during his life, but remained his true, faithful and lawful wife up to the date of his death. I was married to him on the 20 day of December, A. D. 1866, in the county of Bandera, in the State of Texas. My husband the said John J Bandy, enlisted and served in the military service of the Confederate States during the war between the States of the United States, and that he did not desert the Confederate Service. I have been a resident of the State of Texas since prior to March 1, A. D. 1880, and have been continuously since a citizen of the State of Texas. Stayton Co woods regiment, 33 Texas cavalry I am almost positive. 11. Name of branch of service in which your husband served, whether infantry, cavalry, artillery or the navy, or if commissioned as an officer by the President, his rank and line of duty, or if detailed from special service, under the law of conscription, the nature of such service, and how long did he serve? Cavalry, he served between 3 and 4 years, and as a private. Bandy served in the same company and Batallion with said John J. Bandy. That said John J. Bandy never voluntarily abandoned his post of duty or deserted the served of the Confederacy. C. 1835648 WAR DEPARTMENT THE ADJUTANT GENERAL’S OFFICE WASHINGTON, October 12, 1911 Respectfully returned to the commissioner of Pension, state of Texas, Austin. No record has been found in this office of an organization known as Wood’s 35th Texas Cavalry, Confederate States Army. The records show that on Peter C. Woods was colonel of the 36th Texas Cavalry, said army, but no record has been found of a Captain Stayton’s Company in either the 35th or 36th Texas Cavalry, Confederate States Army. The records show, however, that one John Bandy, private, Company D (Captain Jno. W. Stayton) Ragsdale’s Battalion, Texas Cavalry, Confederate States Army, was enlisted December 12, 1862, and that he was present with that company January 1, 1863. To the 3 int. he answers; I first knew John J Bandy in the year 1861, I think it was when he first joined the Confederate army in Wilson County Texas near the present town of Floresville. To the 4 int. he answers; I do To the 5 int. he answers: He enlisted in company D. John W Stayton Captain Davidson’s Batalion in the year 1861 to the best of my recollection in Wilson County Texas and served until end of the war in 1865. To the 6 int. he answers; He never was commissioned as an officer; he was only a private. To the 7 int. witness answers; John J. Bandy was never detailed for any kind of special duty except picket duty. To the 1 cross interrogatory the witness G. W. answers; I know personally of John J Bandy service in the Confederate service by having served with him as third Lieutenant of the company. There was no other person serving in same company by name of John J Bandy. To the 2 cross int. witness answers; I only know that John J. Bandy served in the Confederate army as testified herein before by me, and I know that he lived in Bandera County. I have never seen him since the war close and we separated on the Brazos River. To the 3 cross int. witness answers; I know that John J. Bandy served honorably in the confederate Army from the date of his enlistment to the time of his discharge and never at any time shirked any duty as a solder. Bandy I am 67 years of age I reside in Frio Co Texas my Post Office address is Moore Frio Co Texas. To the second interrogatory witness answers I personally know John J. Bandy To the third interrogatory witness answers: I had known him ever since I can remember I first know him in the state of Illinois before we moved to Texas To the fourth interrogatory witness answers I do personally know that he enlisted in the service of the confederacy and performed the duties of a soldier. To the Fifth interrogatory witness answers He served in John Staten’s Company. Company D and Dayly’s regiment or Batalion he enlisted in the latter part of 1862 or the early part of 1863 he enlisted near San Antonio in Bexar Co Texas He was in the service from that time until the war closed. He did not enlist in the Navy he was in the Cavalry. To the Sixth interrogatory witness answers He was never commissioned as an officer he was a private in the ranks To the Seventh interrogatory witness answers He performed no service under the provisions of the conscript law. Bandy in the same company and served with him until end of the war. I never new of any time or place of any other solders or sailor by the name of John J Bandy He was not in the navy but was in the Cavalry service and I never knew anyone else of the same name. APPLICATION FOR MORTUARY WARRANT THE STATE OF TEXAS, County of Bandera I, Mrs. Edd OBryant do hereby certify that I am the person to whom is entrusted the paying of the accounts and indebtedness of the late Mrs. Aliff Bandy, who was a pensioner of the State of Texas, and whose file number was 20709 and whose original county was Bandera. The said pensioner Mrs. Aliff Bandy, died on the March day of 25, 1942, on the farm of Mrs. Edd Obryant County of Bandera, Texas The pensioner died in the home of Mrs Edd O’Bryant who was related to the pensioner as Daughter. That the warrant, which application is hereby made for, shall be applied to paying all or part of the funeral expenses incurred by the said pensioner Mrs. Aliff Bandy. I further certify that the warrant for the current month has not been cashed by the pensioner, to the best of my knowledge and belief.
