Richmond (VA) Daily Dispatch  22 September 1852
Mr. Charles McGee, the contractor for building the State Capitol at Texas, died 
at Bastrop on the 3d instant. He was married on his death bed a few days before 
his decease. He was a man of great wealth, and the purpose of his marriage was 
to secure a dower in his property to the lady who possessed his affections.
