Redic Eli Bryan was born at Bienville Parish, LA. in 1870. He moved to Texas 
when eight years of age, finally locating near Stephenville.

In 1900 he married Miss Myrtie Hairston and they moved to Baylor County in 1905, 
coming to Seymour in 1910. The move to Seymour was made when Mr. Bryan was 
elected to the office of Tax Assessor, which office he served efficiently for 
four years.

Mr. Bryan was converted when 25 years of age and united with the Baptist Church. 
Mrs. Bryan preceded her husband to the great beyond by two and a half years. 
There were seven children, two boys dying in infancy. Those surviving are Misses 
Marie and DeRay Bryan, Buster Bryan, Miss Willie Mae, and Whit. All are living 
at Borger with the exception of Buster. Three sisters are living, Mrs. J. R. 
Hammett of Post, Mrs. J. D. Biggs of Wheeler, and Mrs. Dollie Wylie of Bronte. 
Out of town relatives attending the funeral were Mrs. Dollie Wylie of Bronte, 
Mrs. R. D. Boyer of Coleman, Mrs. Ray Noah of Coleman, Mr. and Mrs. Will Gresham 
and son Rex of Childress and all the children. Funeral services were conducted 
at Seymour by Rev. J. R. Balch, pastor of the First Baptist Church.

Mr. Bryan died Aug. 29, 1929 at the age of 59 years. He was still in the vigor 
of his years, and his untimely going is the cause of great sorrow to the loved 
ones and friends. Life had been no easy thing during the last years of his life, 
and we can rest in the faith that sorrow and trouble is over for him. It seems 
unfortunate he could not have remained and assisted in caring for the family, 
but God is merciful and will care for His own in His own way. The time may be 
looked forward to when there will be a great reunion in that other and better 
land.
