Born March 21, 1912 in Seymour, TX, passed away peacefully on June 7th surrounded by his loving family at Saint John's Hospital in Santa Monica. Glen joined the Lord after a long and courageous fight against pneumonia. A loving husband, devoted father and grandfather, and friend to many, Glen will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him. Glen had a life long passion for history, literature and the English language; he attended Southern Methodist University and graduated with a BA and MA in History and Government in 1932. He received a scholarship to Columbia Law School in New York and received his JD in law in 1935. Glen led a remarkable life; from growing up in a small town in Texas, to graduating with honors from Columbia Law School, to negotiating corporate contracts in Sweden he excelled at all he put his mind to. From his career start as a lawyer on Wall Street in New York to becoming Vice President of RCA at the age of 35, he eventually moved to Los Angeles in 1957 to become Chairman of the Executive Committee of Litton Industries, a pioneering electronics manufacturer. Glen is survived by his loving and dedicated wife of 43 years, Marilyn, his daughter Dr. Laurie McDaniel, son and daughter-in-law Scott and Eileen McDaniel, and granddaughters Ashley Anne Norwood and Catherine Rose McDaniel. Glen was most cherished by his friends and family for his overwhelming loyalty, friendship, thoughtfulness, good cheer and wit. His bubbling personality came through in every conversation and he always left you smiling with one of his innumerable jokes. A dedicated philanthropist, Glen focused many of his later years in support of Saint John's Health Center, Pepperdine University and the Mirman School for Gifted Children. In recognition of his tireless efforts he has been recognized many times, was awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Law by Pepperdine University in 2001 and the Spirit of Saint John's Caritas award in 2005. His remarkable efforts on behalf of these institutions will leave long and lasting benefits to the Los Angeles community. We will celebrate Glen's extraordinary life at a memorial service on June 20th, 2007 at 2:00 PM at Westwood Presbyterian Church, 10822 Wilshire Blvd., West Los Angeles, CA. A reception for close friends and family will be held at L.A.C.C. following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the "Glen McDaniel Memorial Fund" at Saint John's Hospital Foundation at 1328 22nd Street, Santa Monica, CA 90404.
