Pistole, 70, a practicing physician of Seymour, since 1904, died from a gunshot wound Wednesday. His body was found seated in a chair in the rear office of a local drug store. His wife, who has been a teacher in the Seymour schools for many years, is the only survivor. Dr. Pistole was well known and held in high esteem in Seymour. Wichita Daily Times Wichita Fallas, Wichita County, Texas Thursday, April 18, 1929 -- [Dr. Pistole and his wife were both born in Kentucky. In 1929, they had been married 41 years. In 1889, Dr. S.W. Pistole was a doctor at Post Oak, Jack County, Texas. By 1896, Dr. Pistole was a surgeon and physician in Jacksboro. His wife, Mrs. Mattie H. Pistole was a teacher in 1893 in Jack County, Texas. In 1898, Dr. Pistole and his family moved to Seymour, Baylor County, Texas. Mattie Pistole began teaching at the Ward school in Seymour in 1899. She taught there for almost 10 years when she became Principal of the Primary Ward school. She continued in the Seymour schools until her resigning in 1917 at the insistence of her husband and son.
