Beeville; marr.20 Oct 1859, Grimes Co. TX to Joel Walker ADKINS,
who died 2 April 1910, Refugio Co. TX. Mil Recd: enlisted 5 May
1862 in Grimes Co., served in Co. B, Madison's Regt, Green's
Brigade (Cav) for 4 yrs. Affidavit by J. C. DAVIS Mrs. Adkins
received $360 annual pension on her husband's Federal service as a
Ranger prior to the Civil War. She died 16 Oct 1928 at Beeville, in

FRANCIS, Wesley Clark, #99792, 8 Jan 1904, apprvd 27 Mar 1904.
Age 60 on 20 Nov 1903. Res.3 yrs at Mineral, Bee Co. TX,
occupation farmer. Mil Recd: enlisted I Jul 1861, (Harrisburg)
Guadalupe Co. TX, Co. A. 4th TX Regt, Inf., dischgd when LEE
surrendered in 1865. Fought at Getlysburg. Affidavit by Joe B. POLLEY,
age 63, of Floresville, Wilson Co. TX, states the family of
Wesley FRANCIS lived on the San Marcos (River) near Prairie Lea
when he was a boy, and that a brother, Ed FRANCIS, color bearer
of the Fourth Texas was killed at the Battle of Chicakamauga. Copies
of forms showing W. C. FRANCIS was dischgd from the Texas Conf. Home
at Austin at his own request on 3 April 1916 and 7 Jul 1917. Mr. FRANCIS
died 8 Nov 1917, Jourdanton, Atascosa Co. TX at home of daughter

May 1930 states she had lost her son 2 yrs previously. Letter by
her daughter, Mrs. Mary C. UPTON, Blanconia. Mrs. WEST died 23 May
1951, Victoria, Victoria Co. TX, at the home of her daughter,
Mrs. Frank O. BROCK, Rt 4, Box 179A, Victoria, who appl. for mortuary
warrant.
