Stewart Cemetery is a private cemetary located on Dog Ridge earlier, but removed September 1973 because of highway 190 construction. All are now buried in Salado Cemetery. Stewart Cemetery was formed as a place to bury two people who died of small pox and were not permitted to be buried in the Belton City cemetery. Buddy STEWART son of J.T. and Addie Stewart Born & died 1891 of small pox. Ruth (Wilkerson) STEWART born April 14,1832 died March 20, 1891 of small pox (grandmother of Buddy Stewart) E.E. STEWART born May 16,1825, died June 30,1900 heart attack. (Husband of Ruth Wilkerson) Mrs. Addie (Harmon) STEWART born May 22, 1860 died December 20,1924 of Dropsy Mother of Buddy Stewart Unknown girl, agee about 5 years. Died from burns. Her family was going through in a covered wagon and camped by the Stewart farm to cook supper and spend the night.
