Samuel was my Great - Great - Great Grandfather 
Birth:  Jan. 6, 1811

Father was Thomas William David McAlpin.
Mother was Winney N. Cox.
Samuel was a Farmer.
Masonic symbol on his grave marker.

SAMUEL MAJOR McALPIN, 4th known child of Thomas William David McAlpin and 
Nancy "Agnes" Brown, was born 6 Jan 1811 in Tenn. and died 23 Oct 1879 in Bell 
Co., Texas, where his son Carroll Jasper was living. He is buried in Oenaville 
Cemetery. Samuel married Minney Cox, born 17 Sep 1809,  d. May 1889, Bangs, 
Brown Co., TX. Samuel and Minney are in the 1850, 1860, and 1870 census of 
Lafayette Co., MS, where Samuel gave his place of birth as Tenn. Deed Book "A" 
in McNairy Co., TN, showed John Cox had mortgaged to Samuel McAlpin one bay 
mare and two sows for $56.00 on 22 Jan 1838. Samuel's daughter, Margaret, was 
born in Tenn. in 1848, so the family moved from Tenn. to Miss. between 1848 
and 1850. Samuel was a Mason.
