Wadsworth TRANSCRIBER'S NOTES: Baker BALLOW Sr. was the son of Owen Meredith BALLOW and Mary (Polly) BAKER of Ashe Co., NC. He married Lucy MAXWELL, 1831 in North Carolina. Baker appears on the US census in Ashe Co., NC (1850); Pulaski Co., KY (1860); Carroll Co., AR (1870); and Bell Co., TX (1880). His children included James Meredith, Alexander, Napoleon, William H., David, Mary Louise, Baker Jr., Eli Clinton, Missenia Angeline and Susan Ellen BALLOW. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Minutes Probate Court Bell Co. July Term 1888 (Vol. G, pp. 96-98) The State of Texas } To the Hon. J.M. ROSBOROUGH Judge of the County Court County of Bell } of said Bell County. Baker BALLOW [Jr.], administrator of the Estate of Baker BALLOW [Sr.] deceased, herewith files and submits his final account of said administration and represents that he has received into his hands of the property of said decedent of realty, one undivided half-interest in Lot No. 3 in Block No. 10 in the original survey of the City of Temple in said Bell County, and of personalty a lot of household and kitchen furniture and notes and accounts owing by various persons to said deceased and six & 05/100 dollars in money, all of which is fully reported and itemized in the appraisement and inventory filed on the 8 day of June 1885. That pursuant to the decree of this Court, said administrator has sold both said real & personal property. Said administrator has paid and discharged all debts, charges and expenses due and owing by said Estate except the costs of the officers of this Court arising in the course of administration which he is now ready to pay, and that besides said costs said Estate now owes nothing. That all the property and claims of said Estate have been reduced to money by sale and collection except the note for ($32.) thirty two dollars owing by O.H. McLAIN, which said administrator has been unable to collect because of the insolvency of the debtor, and the note of Wm. CARLTON on which he brought suit and recovered judgement for four dollars ($4.00) which said administrator has not been able to collect because of the insolvency of said CARLTON. That S.E. RAMSEY one of the heirs and distributees of said estate joined by her husband on the 10th day of October 1883, received of said decedent the sum of ninety-five dollars which was to be considered as an advancement by said decedent as shown by the statement of said S.E. RAMSEY herewith filed as exhibit A. & a part of this report. That M.A. CLARK, E.C. BALLOW, J.M. BALLOW & G.J. BALLOW* & W.H. BALLOW have each received from said Estate the sum of ($32.00) thirty-two dollars: and that David BALLOW has received of said Estate the sum of fifty & 45/100 ($50.45) dollars which has never come into the hands of said Administrator but was received before the grant of letters and has never been paid or accounted for by him. That the following named persons are heirs at law & entitled to equal portions of said Estate to wit: Eli BALLOW who resides in Carroll County Ark. / M.A. CLARK who resides in Carol County Ark. / W.H. BALLOW who resides in Wichita County, Texas / David BALLOW and G.J. BALLOW* who resides in Clay County, Texas / S.E. RAMSEY who resides in Carroll County Ark./ and Alexander BALLOW whose residence is unknown / all of whom are adults. On this 1st day of Aug 1888, came to be heard the final account of Baker BALLOW administrator of the Estate of Baker BALLOW deceased, and it appearing to the court from said final account and the exhibits therewith filed that all debts of said Estate that are collectable have been duly collected by said administrator, and that he has paid and discharged all claims against said Estate as well as the costs of Court accruing in said administration and that of the assets of said Estate said administrator had in his hands at the filing of said final account the sum of $592.95 and that the heirs of said Estate are entitled to receive the same as balances on their respective shares of said Estate as follows to wit: W.H.
