Obituary of J.B.BUTLER Submitted by Jac McMahan jacnmac@netdex.com San Antonio Express, April 15, 1929. " J.B.Butler, 73, Veteran Editor Dies Here Sunday: J.B. Butler, 73, veteran newspaperman, died Sunday morning in his home at 13th Bradley Street. For many years he was a member of the San Antonio Express editorial department. He was born, Sept 24,1856, in Fredericks CO., VA. He received his education at grade schools and the University of Kentucky. He was associated with newspapers in Chicago, New York, Philadelphia, Washington, St.Louis, New Orleans,Dallas, Fort Worth, Houston, and El Paso, besides San Antonio. For a while he was connected with a mining magazine in the City of Mexico. During two years of his career, he wrote exclusively for magazines and practiced law for several years. He was elected prosecuting attorney two times. He served as Editor of the San Antonio Semi-Weekly Farm Express and was an editorial writer for the San Antonio Express several years. He is survived by three sons, Harry L. of San Antonio, and C.C. and B.P. of the Island of Guam, and 10 grandchildren.
