SAMUEL STEPHEN McCRUM 1859-1921 Additional Comments: Born Samuel Stephen McCrum on 2 Nov 1857 in Charlotte, Mecklenburg County, NC, the oldest of four children born to Samuel Wilson McCrum and Mary Dicia Capps. "Sam", as he was known, attended the U. of Tennesse (1889), U. of Nashville (1891), Vanderbilt College (1892) and the College of Chicago (1905). He is listed as a physician in the "Medical and Surgical Register of the United States", 1896, page 1427. He served as 1st Lt., 304th Motor Transport Corps. WWI Veteran and 1st Lt. Medical Corps at Camp Normoyle in 1919. He married Emma Lou Simmons on 25 Feb 1892 in Rains County, TX. He was the father of two children: Jessie McCrum (1892-1976) and Richard Douglas McCrum, Sr. (1895- 1955). He died on 21 Sep 1921 and was buried in Mission Burial Park, San Antonio, TX.
