Mark Crabtree, age 72, height six feet, eyes blue, dark complexion, hair black. Since leaving the service has resided in "different counties" in the State of Texas, occupation farmer. Kimball, Bosque Co, TX, Mexican War service as Private Capt. B. F. Hill's Company, Col. John C. Hays' Regiment, Texas Volunteers, in securing pension. Enlisted 27 October 1848, discharged 17 December 1848, length of service 62 days, Record evidence of service "Shown by the roll". "Rejected on the ground that the service rendered was subsequent to the close of the Mexican War". Bounty Land Claim 61770-16055. 5 January 1898: Declaration of Applicant, Mark Crabtree resident of Kimball, Bosque Co, TX, states he served as Private in the company commanded by Capt Hill, regiment of Texas Volunteers. Enlisted at St Antonia Tex on or about 5 Feby or about that time, A.D. 1847, for the term of twelve months, and was honorably discharged on or about 5 June 1847 at St Antonia Texas. Cavalry service. Marched sixty miles to Madena marched back to San Antonia & was mustered out in said 5th day June 1847. Applicant is age 76, born Jackson Co, Tenn on the 25th day of August 1821. "That I am dependent on others other than those legally bound for my support for my livelihood; that I have been so dependent since four years from date herein,...and ...residents of Bosque Co Texas...afforded...money to buy provisions & clothing for my self and wife and for general support and attention." Disabled by reason of advanced age beginning 1872. "Chronic sore eyes, rheumatism in my feet and from general disability incident to my advanced age". 17 January 1898: Kimball, Bosque Co., Texas, agreement between Mark Crabtree and George J.
