The Holy Bible was printed in New York by the American Bible Society in 1870.  
This Bible has been in the McCoppin Family since May 23, 1873, almost 100 years.  
The Bible was willed to George W. McCoppin by his Aunt, Sallie McCoppin 
(1856 - 1944) and is a most valuable heirloom.  The Bible is intact except for the 
lock and key missing.

The inscription on a front sheet in handwriting reads as follows:
Awarded to Miss Sallie McCoppin for missing the least number of words in the 
Dictionary Class by Nettie Haggard, Boston, May 23, 1873.

Births:
G. C. (George Clinton) McCoppin was born March 13th, 1820.  Died January 18th, 1878.
___McCoppin (page torn here) was born __26.
Mary J. McCoppin was born November 20th, 1852.
Susan F. McCoppin was born August 15th, 1854.
Sallie E. McCoppin was born October 21st, 1856.
Edward R. McCoppin was born May 18th, 1860.
George W. McCoppin was born November 15th, 1863.
Rebecca A. McCoppin was born August 15th, 1867.

Mary J. McCoppin, the eldest daughter, was the Grandmother of Mary Margaret 
McWilliam and the Great Grandmother of George, Margaret, and Albert McWilliams, Jr.  
Edwin R. McCoppin was the father of Mrs. L. T. Henson, Sr. and George W. McCoppin, 
and the Grandfather of Mrs. Paul Nicholson, L. T. Henson, Jr., George Edward McCoppin 
and Sally Beth McCoppin Temple..all members or former members of First United Methodist 
Church.

George Washington McCoppin born on November 3, 1904 at Simms, Texas. (Bassett, Texas)
 Son of Edward R. and Zema McCoppin.
Alice Ann Johnson born in Desoto Parish, Louisiana, Aug. 13, Wife of George W. McCoppin.
George Edwin McCoppin born Jan. 14, 1936 at St. Michael's hospital, Texarkana.
Sally Beth McCoppin born July 1939 at St. Michael's Hospital, Texarkana.

The family record showing births is hand drawn.  It reveals the marvelous technique of the artist 
who ascribed the penmanship on this page.  At first glance, I thought it had been printed.
