Old records of the Texas and Pacific Railroad The following was contributed by Mr. Marvin Woodard of Texarkana, Arkansas, who was employed as an engineer by this railroad. This division on the TEXAS & PACIFIC RAILROAD went west from Texarkana to Clarksville, Texas….to Paris, Texas…Bonham… Sherman… Whitesboro…Denton… and on to Ft. Worth, Texas. You will note the dates at the end of each name, this being the date of employment. You will also note that some of these men stayed with the railroad as long as they could physically work. One story Mr. Woodard stated was one engineer said at age of 75 years young that if he could just last another ten years, he would have his family pretty well set. The very earliest date that we have listed for this division of the railroad Was 7/12/1884. You will also notice that in some of the list their names appear more than once as they advanced from firemen up to engineer as did J. P. Zimmerman hired as fireman in 8/2/1908 advancing up to engineer 1/19/1920. This old record was published by the First State Bank, Bonham, Texas. The Guaranty Fund Bank - Capital $200,000 with a surplus of $100,000.00. President, T. B. Williams; Vice President, T. R. Caldwell, Vice President, M. C. Spivey, and Cashier, I. W. Evans.
