Joseph Royall (1726-78) enlisted, 1777, as a private in Captain Brown's company, 1st North Carolina regiment. He was born in Virginia; died in North Carolina.  
Benjamin Seawell (1742-1821) was a delegate from Butte County to the Provincial Congress at Halifax, N. C., 1776. He gave valuable military service against the Tories of Franklin County. He was born in North Carolina; died in Wilson County, Tenn.
