Note: Green Pinkham Defee served with Company E, 1st Alabama Infantry Regiment, CSA. The 1st Alabama Infantry Regiment was the first to be organized under an act of the State legislature authorizing the enlistment of troops for 12 months. Mustered into service March 1861 at Union Springs, Pike County,(Now Bullock County) Alabama, under the command of Captain Augustus H. Owen, they were the boys from Pike County. They were known as the "Rough and Ready Pioneers".
