Mrs. L. Samuels arrived from Chicago this morning. Dr. Beidler left Little Rock for the north last Friday. A Telephone line has been erected between Washington and Columbus, Arkansas. Joe Cook was elected chairman of the Democratic Convention of Miller County, And R. L. Trigg. Secretary. Delegates are: S. F. Segraves, J. H. Wooten, J. Paulk, P. Crow, J. T. Dillard, S. G. Watkins, A. S. Blythe, H. N. McLain, E. W. Frost, Charles Hopper, J. J. Towery, John H. Roberts, Charles Bramble, John Few, G. A. Hays, J. A. Kirby, F. M. Leatherman, George Bell, E. R. Culley, J. W. Harris, W. W. McGee, Martin Levy, W. T. Ferguson, F. M. Coe, H. Higginbottom, And Jeff Sanderson. C. L. Byrne was over from Lewisville yesterday. Gen. Sam Mallory, inspector for the St. L. A. & T. Railroad, is in the city. Masters Will Wadley and Will Duncan, of Queen City, passed yesterday here. Capt. F. W. Smith, station agent for the broad gauge roads, returned from Chicago this morning. Mrs. M. Thurm died at the family residence yesterday, and was buried at three P.M. today. We deeply sympathize with the husband and children. Louis Holligan, infant son of Conductor Holligan, died Saturday, and was buried at the Catholic Cemetery yesterday evening. Mrs. Ann Mangan, wife of street commissioner John Mangan, died at the family residents, in the city yesterday and at three o'clock this afternoon, after funeral services at the Catholic church by Father Barbin, her remains were interred in the Catholic Cemetery. J. J. Vogel attended the convention yesterday, and Sheriff Hamilton arrested him, the grand jury having found an indictment against him for rioting during the strike. Jim V. Collins, our old Arkansas Friend, but now San Antonio, was in the City today. Mr. Kelsey, cashier of the 1st National Bank, went to Greenville on business this morning. Miss Josie Morrow is quite ill we hear. G. W. Shinn, a prominent young lawyer of Little Rock, was in the city yesterday. Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Kizer, of Springdale, spent yesterday in the city. Mrs. Tilson has returned from a visit to friends in New Boston. Miss Agnes Moffat is ill with a case of fever. Sheriff Connervey, of Lafayette County, is in the city. Miss Tommie Trigg will leave tonight for a visit to friends in Rome, Georgia.
