Tracks Welcome to “Time Tracks”. In this history account you will read about early Texarkana, and surrounding communities in Bowie Co. Texas and Miller Co. Arkansas. You will find information on the early settlers and entrepreneurs, railroads, first churches, schools, businesses, first Telephone Company, electricity, and the answer to about any question you ever had concerning the area, and many you never though to ask. This document was originally published in the Texarkana Gazette, December 31, 1999. The featured article: Millennium Milestones, also included in the article, When T. Rex was King, Red River Paradise, Pictures and family notes sent in by the community for the special edition. Gazette Editors Note: Editors of this time line have stolen liberally from anything they could lay their hands on concerning local and regional history, yet it is neither complete nor comprehensive. Many individuals and events could be added, and we apologize for those that were left out. Even so, this may be the first attempt to publish a useable timeline of local and area development. It will now serve as a database for adding more information and chronicling life in these parts. ************************************************************************ USGENWEB NOTICE: In keeping with our policy of providing free information on the Internet, material may be freely used by non-commercial entities, as long as this message remains on all copied material, AND permission is obtained from the contributor of the file.
