Taps Sounded for Pioneer of Bowie, Dabney Allen, Bowie County, Texas 4/6/1912 FOUR STATES PRESS Dabney Allen, who was probably the oldest citizen of Bowie County, was buried Yesterday at the family burying grounds at Hooks. Mr. Allen was eighty-six years of age, and had resided in Bowie County for Forty-four years. He served with the forces of the Confederacy during the Civil War, and while a citizen of this county, lived to see it become one of the Most important counties of the state. Mrs. Allen, several children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren survive. His death occurred at the family home on Wednesday evening.
