William Kenneth "Grandpa" Ashlin 78,of Redwater, Texas died Wednesday February 18,2004. 
Mr. Ashlin was born July 2,1925 in Magazine, Ark. He was a former employee of McConnell 
Heavy Haulers, retired from Commercial Storage and Red River Army Depot, a member of 
Redwater Church of Christ, a former Civil Air Patriot and a decorated World War II veteran.   
He was preceaded in death by his wife, Dorothy Spain Ashlin; and three children, Judith 
Nell Ashlin, Timothy Allen Ashlin, and Rebecca Jane Spence.    

Survivors include three sons, Larry Ashlin of Redwater; Bobby Ashlin of Jacksonville, 
Ark; and Randy Ashlin of Beaumont, Texas; five sisters, Berta Burnett of Russ, Texas; 
Marie Cross and Maxine Spain of Jacksonville; Bonnie Culwell of Kansas City, Mo; and 
Mary Larkin of Cabot, Ark; one special friend, Melba Palmertree; and 11 grandchildren.    
Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at East Funeral Home, Downtown Memorial Chapel with 
Mark Miller officiating. Burial will be in Redwater Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 
p.m. today at the funeral home.
