Funeral services for T. M. Cantrell 74, pioneer resident of the Nash community 
who died Wednesday October 22, 1939, after a short illness, will be held at 10  
am Friday at the Nash Methodist church with the Rev. J. B Waggoner of Carlisle, 
TX, offficiating and assisted by the Rev. Adkinson of Nash.  Burial will be in 
Hillcrest Cemetery.  Born in Cherokee County, GA, son of Mr. and Mrs. D. S. 
Cantrell, he came to Texas in a covered wagon in 1870 at the age of five.  Mr. 
Cantrell married Emma Henderson of Nash and to this union were born three 
children, two of whom survive, Mrs. R. C. O'Donald of Nash and Mrs. D. A. 
Harper of Tulsa.  Mrs. Cantrell died in 1899.  In 1900 Mr. Cantrell married 
Mrs. Minerva Shipp Holmes, widow with two children who are survivors, Mrs. Nash 
S. Bingham of Tunica, MS, and J. Oscar Holmes of Tacoma, WA.  Six children were 
born to this union.  Survivors John M. Cantrell, H. Ector Cantrell of Seattle 
WA., Jewel C. Cantrell and Mrs Dan J. Myers of Nash, Mrs Claude D. Myrick of 
New Boston and Tilman Meade Cantrell, of San Antonio. 
Other survivors are a sister, Mrs. L. A. Powell of Texarkana; a brother S. W. 
Cantrell of Portland, OR, 14 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.  Active 
pallbearers will be Darrel Blocker, Lawrence Arrington, W. H. Presley, Cullen 
White, Fred Norton, and Grady Norton.  Honorary pallbearers will be Rollin W. 
Rodgers, Sr., C. J. Day, J. R. Watlington, Eli Rochelle, N. L. Dalby, Jack 
Runnels and friends and neighbors of the family.
