Obituary for Mrs. Ruby Dennis DeFee Died 7 March 1944 Local School Teacher Dies Mrs. Ruby Dennis DeFee was Widow of Former City Secretary Here Mrs. Ruby Dennis DeFee, 61 year old School Teacher, died at 1 p.m., Tuesday, in a Texarkana hospital. She resigned her position as a teacher at the Spring Lake Park School a month ago due to ill health. Mrs. DeFee , who resided at 2717 Olive Street, had been a resident of Texarkana for the past 39 years. She was born in Hunt County, Texas. She was the widow of the late William J. DeFee, a former City Secretary of Texarkana, Texas. An active member of the Eastern Star , she was a past worthy matron of that organization and a member of the Twentieth Century Sunday School class of the Central Christain Church here and a member of the Druggist Auxillary. She is survived by two sons, William J. DeFee, United States Army and Robert E. DeFee, Texarkana; two daughters, Mrs. Ruth Mathews, Salt Lake City, Utah and Mrs. Frances McLarty, Texarkana; two brothers, W.I. Dennis, Chickasha, Okla., and a J. H. Dennis, Itasca, Texas; a sister, Mrs. J.E. Risley, Dallas; and three grand children. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday at the East chapel with Rev. E. Hunt, Pastor of the Central Christain Church officiating. Burial will be in Hill Crest Cemetery. Active Pallbearers will be W.S. Chance Jr., C.A.Smith, W.H. McLarty, L.T.Lain, J.T.
