Mrs. J. A. Dodd, Nash, Texas; Bowie County 5/29/1949 Mrs. J. A. Dodd, 74, Dies at Home in Nash Mrs. J. A. Dodd, 74, widow of Dr. J. A. Dodd and pioneer Bowie County resident, died at 4:45 p.m. Saturday at her home in Nash, Texas She is survived by a son, E. C. Dodd of Big Springs, Texas; three daughters, Mrs. Hazel Carpenter of Dallas, Mrs. J. W. Fulton of Olney, Texas, and O. L. West of St. Petersburg, Fla., a sister Mrs. Mary Carpenter of Rose Ark, a brother, Henry Hopper of New Port, Ark., and five grandchildren. The body will remain at the Texarkana Funeral Home pending arrival of relatives. 5/30/1949 Mrs. J. A. Dodd Funeral services for Mrs. J. A Dodd, 72, who died Saturday afternoon, will be held at 4 p.m. Monday at the family home in Nash. The Rev. Carl Bates, pastor of the Nash Methodist Church. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Shelby Shipp, W. H. Presley, T. F. Kittrell, Jr., W. Y. Musgrave, T. E. Pounds, and R. D. Carpenter. Honarary pallbearers will be Judge N. L. Dalby, Dr. W. E. Jones, Dr. S. A. Collom, Jr., H. P. Briley, E. F. Eubanks, Tommy Stevens, Will S. Kyle, J. I. Wheeler, Ed B. Levee, S. H. Vance, Thomas Brower, R. C. Ferren, H. D. Hart, Henry C. Arrington, Arthur White, C. H. Latham, and other friends of the family. Mrs. Dodd was a native of Arkansas. Shemarried the late Dr. J. A. Dodd in September 1894, and moved to Nash, Texas in 1901. She was very active in church affairs of her community. Dr. Dodd died in Feb. 1944. Mrs. Dodd is survived by a son, E. C. Dodd of Big Sorings, Texas, three daughters; Mrs. Hazel Carpenter of Dallas, Mrs. J. W. Fulton of Olney, Texas, and Mrs. O. L.
