Obit: Kenneth Allen Edwards, Texarkana, Bowie Co., Texas - Miller Co., Arkansas 12/25/1967 Mrs. Estelle Edwards, Route 2, Box 403, Texarkana, has been notified of her son Kenneth Allen Edwards on board the USS Kersage, He is a 1953 graduate of Arkansas High School. 12/28/1967 Texarkana Sailor Dies in Ship Fire First Class Petty Officer Kenneth Allen Edwards, 32, of Texarkana, Texas, was killed Dec. 23 in a fire on board ship while serving with the U. S. Navy in Japan. Born June 29, 1935, in Texarkana, he was a lifetime resident of the city. He was a 1953 graduate of Arkansas High School and entered the Navy in 1954. He was a member of Eylau Baptist Church. Survivors include his mother, Mrs. Estelle Edwards of Texarkana, two brothers, Phillip L. Edwards of the U. S. Navy in Charlston, S. C., and Keith Edwards of the U. S. Navy Jacksonville, Fla.; his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Clark C. Campbell of Texarkana, two nieces, Pamela and Lacretia Edwards, and a nephew, Phillip L. Edwards, Jr., all of Charlston, S. C. and a number of Aunts and Uncles. The body will be returned to Texarkana Funeral Home for funeral arrangements. 1/03/1968 Kenneth Allen Edwards Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Texarkana Funeral Home Chapel for First Class Petty Officer Kenneth Allen Edwards, 32, of Rt. XX, Box XX, Texarkana, who was killed Dec. 23, 1967, in a fire aboard the USS Keersarge. Lieutenant Gaston will officiate. Burial will be in redwater Cemetery with full military rites.
