NEW BOSTON, Texas-John Carl "Pops" Hamilton, Sr., age 86, of New Boston, Texas 
formerly of Amarillo, Texas passed away on July 23, 2009 at is home in New 
Boston following a brief illness.

John was a retired Engineer for the Santa Fe Railroad, a U.S. Army Air Corps 
veteran of World War II and a Mason of Palo Duro Lodge in good standing for 
over 55 years. He is preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Margariete 
Morrison Hamilton of Amarillo, as well as three brothers and six sisters. He is 
survived by his wife of 67 years, Emma Lou Gruver Hamilton of New Boston, 
formerly of Amarillo, a son, John Hamilton, Jr. of New Boston and a daughter 
and son-in-law Sandy and Bill Feazell of New Boston, Texas; one grandson, John 
Hamilton III of Waretown, New Jersey; three granddaughters and grandsons-in-
law, Joni and TSGT(Select) Anthony Thomas of Clovis, New Mexico, Melissa and 
Donald Berry and Tracy and SFC (R) Charles Sorsby II both of New Boston as well 
as six great-grandchildren, Taegan and Lexi Thomas of Clovis, New Mexico and 
Taryn, Chance, Will and Bobbie Nell Sorsby of New Boston, Texas.

Chapel Services will be held Saturday, August 1, 2009 at 1 p.m. in the Bates-
Rolf Chapel, New Boston with Bro. Ken Cox officiating. There is no visitation. 
Interment will be held in Read Hill Cemetery, New Boston under the direction of 
Bates-Rolf, New Boston. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of 
Texarkana, 803 Spruce, Texarkana, Texas 75503. The family will be at 1947 
County Road 4009, New Boston. Online registration may be made at
