NEW BOSTON, Texas-Mary Jo Barrett Lewis, 89, of New Boston died Wednesday, 
March 11, 2015, in a local nursing home.

Mrs. Lewis as born April 27, 1925, in Texarkana, Texas. She was a home 
economics teacher with New Boston High School and a member of First Baptist 
Church, New Boston. She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Lewis.

Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Joe Earl and Beth Lewis of 
Hooks, Texas; two daughters and sons-in-law, DeeAnn and Tom Deet of Pinehurst, 
N.C., and GayLene and Richard Soderling of Texarkana; 11 grandchildren; 16 
great-grandchildren; and a number of other relatives. Services will be 3 p.m. 
Saturday at Bates-Rolf Funeral Home with the Rev. Jerry Ford officiating. 
Burial will be in Read Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. 
Saturday at the funeral home.
