My grandfather was JOHN ELLIOT MOSS. 
He was in law inforsment in Clarksville for years. Berry

JOHN ELLIOT MOSS

John Elliot Moss, deputy sheriff and jailer, died in Red River co.
Hospital Feb 14 at 7:30 p.m., after a brief illness. Last rites were
conducted in First Baptilst Church at 2 p.m. Tuesday. By the Rev. Claude
Martin, paster of Annona Baptist Church. assisted by J.B. Lancastar,
Ministar of the Clarksville Church of Christ. Interment was in Fairview
cemetery.
Born at Monroe , Louisiana, Sept 15, 1885, most of his life was spent
in Red River co. He was constable of prectact no. 1. , embracing the
clarksville area, more than 20 years. At the conclusion of his term of
office December 31, he was appointed deputy sheriff and took charge of the
county jail.
Surviving are his wife, the former ALMA DUNCAN, SHELTON, MOSS. Whom he
married Dec. 18, 1936, at Clarksville; son , Bert Moss, Clarksville;
step-son Kenneth Shelton, Clarksville; daughters, Mrs. Avis Doss, Oklahoma
City, Okla. Step daughter, Mrs Dolores Shelton, James , Duffer. Boxelder;
sister, Mrs. Huie Phepps, Longview; also10 grand children.
Pallbearers were Curtis Lemon, J.C. Beville, Ross Griffin, M. E.
McGuire , Roy Williams, and Carl Childress.
