J. H. SHIPP (Texarkana Gazette, Monday 06 February 1939) (Widower of Elvie Virginia MARKHAM) J. H. Shipp, 67, died Sunday morning at the home of a daughter, Mrs. O. B. Bonner of the Red Lick community. He was born in Miller County but moved to Bowie County in his youth. Mr. Shipp had been a member of the Methodist Church for 55 years. Survivors besides Mrs. Bonner, include three other daughters, Mrs. R. D. Rochelle, Mrs. Marvin Norton, and Mrs. Hortense Jordan; four sons, Horace Shipp and Wallace Shipp of Texarkana, Tom Shipp and Hoyt Shipp, both of Dallas; six brothers, J. R. Shipp of El Dorado, Ples Shipp of Hickory, Okla, Joe Shipp of Lubbock, Texas, Bee Shipp, Cul Shipp and Barney Shipp, all of Texarkana; and two sisters, Mrs. E. J. Clark of Texarkana and Mrs. Rebecca Perry of Fouke. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Monday at the Red Lick church with the Rev. J. H. Malone officiating. Burial will be in the Red Lick cemetery. Active pallbearers will be P. Holmes, Morris Holmes, W. H. Roy, Jim Strickland, W. S. Kyles and H. M. White. Honorary pallbearers will be friends and neighbors of the family.
