Obit: Bowie Co Texas - MERLE SIMMONS


             Merle Simmons 77,of New Boston,Texas died Tuesday February 19,2002 in
             a Texarkana hospital.  Mrs. Simmons was born November 10,1924 in Holden   
             ville,Okla.  She was a former employee of Red River Army Depot and a
             member of Tapp Memorial United Methodist Church.  Survivors include her
             husband, James H. Simmons of New Boston; five daughters, Sharon Ford
             of DeKalb,Texas; Linda Brown and Sue Zachry of New Boston; Patricia Lawing
             of Texarkana; and Chris Donner of Simms,Texas; one sister; and a number
             of grandchildren and great-granchildren.  Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at
             Tapp Memorial United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jeff Hastings officiating.
             Burial will be in Ringwood Cemetery under direction of Bates-Rolf Funeral
             Home.  The family will be at the home of Linda Brown,107 Sylvia,New Boston.
