Dr. Tyson was born April 23, 1925, in Texarkana, Texas. He was a retired doctor, former medical officer at Red River Army Depot, a member of First Baptist Church, New Boston, and a World War II Army Veteran. He was preceded in death by his wife, Isabelle Lanier Tyson; and one grandson, William Tyson Martin. Survivors include his wife, Lavell Tyson of New Boston; three sons, Bill Tyson and Ben Tyson of New Boston and David Tyson of Texarkana; two daughters, Gayle Hollingsworth of New Boston and Patricia Martin of Corpus Christi, Texas; one stepson, Jim Barnes of Alto, Texas; two stepdaughters, Rhonda Tracey of Sacramento, Calif., and Glenda Heisick of Plano, Texas; 10 grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; and a number of other relatives. Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Ken Ken Cox and Rick Rothwell officiating. Burial will be in Read Hill Cemetery under direction of Bates Family Funeral Home. Visitation will be 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the church. Memorials may be made to Manna Kitchen or First Baptist Church, S. McCoy Blvd., New Boston, TX 75570.
