Watson Sent: 10/27/01 8:53:34 PM Subject: Obituary of Evan Thomas WATSON Evan Thomas WATSON (1889-1976) was a descendant of Evan Thomas WATSON (1759-1834), a Revolutionary War veteran who died in Arkansas Territory, in what became Bowie Co., TX. A native of Bowie TX, Evan moved to Salinas CA in the 1950's, and died there in 1976. His obituary, as it appeared 11 Oct 1976 in the Salinas Californian newspaper: "Evan T. Watson Evan Thomas Watson of 448 Vallejo St. died Saturday in a Salinas hospital after a three week illness. He was 87. A native of Texarkana, Tex., he lived in Salinas 20 years and was a retired self-employed farmer. Survivors include his widow Mrs. Addie M. Watson and daughter Mrs. Willie E. Morriss, both of the family home; another daughter Mrs. Audra Wilcox, Paicines; three sons Floyd S. Watson, El Centro; Aubra Watson, Port Townsend, Wash.; Evan T. Watson, Jr., Dalhart, Tex.; sister Mrs. Ida M. Covington, Littlefield, Tex.; brother Fred S. Watson, Littlefield, Tex.; 27 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Graveside rites will be Thursday at 11 a. m. in the Castroville Community Cemetery with Rev. James F. Warnock, pastor of the Faith Fellowship Church of Salinas officiating. Friends may call at the Healey Mortuary until 10 a. m. Thursday." I would be happy to correspond with others of this WATSON line that came to Texas in the Fall of 1833.
