Adams were conducted Saturday January 9, 1982 at 10:00 AM from St. Paul A.M.E. Church, 531 West Warren, Kingsville, Texas, with Rev. S. V. Ferguson, Pastor, officiating. On October 15, 1899 in Brazoria, Texas, the late Rev. & Mrs. Joshua C. Mack became the proud parents of a baby girl whom they named Gertrude Alverta Mack. She was the 3rd child. She grew up in Brazoria & attended school there. She joined Zion Temple A.M.E. Church under the late Rev. W. M. Hills, at an early age. Later she moved to Galveston, Texas & joined Shiloh A.M.E. Church under the late Rev. L. M. Sanders & served on the Usher Board #1 until she united in matrimony with the late Mr. Josh Adams & moved to Kingsville, TX. She joined St. Paul A.M.E. Church while in Kingsville & served as superintendent of the Sunday School, the Stewardess Board #1, a Class Leader & a Trustee. She was a member of the Retired Women’s Club & the Courts of Calanthe. She is survived by 5 sisters, Mrs. Carrie L. Crockett, Mrs. Josephine & Mrs. Mamie Taliner all of Galveston, Texas; & Mrs. Minnie Higgins & Mrs. Lillian Simmon of Brazoria, Texas; 2 brothers, Roscoe B. Mack, Sr. of Brazoria, Texas; & Joshua C. Mack of Sweeny, Texas; 2 sisters-in-law; 4 brothers-in-law; a host of nieces & nephews; 2 step- daughters, Nancy L. Adams, & Susie M. Adams; & other relatives & friends. Pallbearers were John H. Watson, Hosea Bush, Keith Loving, Noel Craig, L. C. Mack, & Mr. Cornell. Honorary Pallbearers were Stewardesses. Arrangements were made by Turcotte Mortuary, Kingsville, Texas. Interment is at Mims Cemetery, Brazoria, Texas.
