Mrs. Blount was a school teacher in Damon and West Columbia, TX Her husband was the Damon School Superintendent. She taught Joe Brumbelow in school at Damon. Back then Joe was mischievous and gave her a bad time. The years must have eased the frustration (and Joe Brumbelow straightened up and became a preacher); when Joe retired and moved back to the area, in Lake Jackson, they became good friends. Mrs. Blount specifically asked Joe Brumbelow to preach her funeral. It was an honor to him to do so. Some of Joe’s mischievousness and Mrs. Blount are mentioned in the 2005 book, “The Wit and Wisdom of Pastor Joe Brumbelow,” hannibalbooks.com. Mrs. Joe (Bonnie Galyean) Brumbelow knew the Blounts at West Columbia High School. She knew them before she ever met Joe Brumbelow. Bonnie mentioned about Mrs. Blount, “She was a sweet lady who will be remembered by many former students from Damon and West Columbia” For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain…For I am hard pressed between the two, having a desire to depart and be with Christ, which is far better. - Philippians 1:21-23; The Bible “Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father's house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also. And where I go you know, and the way you know.” Thomas said to Him, “Lord, we do not know where You are going, and how can we know the way?” Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” -John 14:1-6; The Bible. Scripture Rev. Joe Brumbelow often used in Funeral Services. A book about Rev.
