Clare, 27, budget manager of Stanton's tire department, was killed about 7:45 o'clock Monday night when his automobile struck a bridge abutement and overturned five and one-half miles north of Alvin on Highway 35. He had enlisted in the Navy Sunday and at the time of the accident was returning home from Houston on a business trip. Mr. Clare, who was alone in the automobile, suffered a fractured skull and died shortly after the accident. He had been in Alvin about five months, coming here from Lexington, Texas. Tuesday afternoon the body was taken overland by Froberg Funeral home to Rockdale, Mr. Clare's former home, for burial. He is survived by his parents of Rockdale, a brother and a sister. City Marshal Armour Savell, Deputy Opie Moulton, Sheriff L.R. Johnson, Justice of the Peace William Burhart and Highway Patrolman Gower of Houston investigated the accident.
