"All of Silverton and surrounding community was shocked last Saturday about noon by the sudden death of Mrs R.M. HILL who lived 4 miles East of Silverton. Mrs Hill was apparently in very good health, at least she had had no severe attack of any kind of late. She was finishing a washing when she was attacked by heart trouble, and lived only a few minutes. Mrs MILLIE CLERCY (BAILEY) HILL was born Oct 12,1874, in Benton County Missouri (d/o WILLIAM THURMAN "BUCK" & ELZIABETH L."TISH" BAILEY, and grandaughter of HARDEN & MILLIE LANGFORD BAILEY)and died January 21,1922. Before leaving Missouri she was married to ROBERT MONROE HILL. To this union was born 12 children, four girls and eight boys. All of them living except two of the boys who died in infancy. Funeral services were held at the Methodist Church Sunday at 3 p.m. conducted by her pastor REV McNEELY assisted by I.W. FULKGAM, pastor of the Baptist Church. Many flowers were brought by loving friends, among them was a beautiful wreath by the officials of the Methodist Church, and one by the women of her Sunday school class." Letter: "Mrs Hill came to Silverton in 1896 and this has been her home ever since. Evidence of the love and esteem of people of the town and community for her was demonstrated by the immense throng that gathered to pay their last respects to her whom they had learned to love. Old timers say that it was the largest crowd they ever saw at a funeral here. Mrs Hill was a good and faithful wife, a kind and loving mother. She lived for her family and when her Master came for her she was in the midst of the activities of life. The community has lost one of its best women. The family has lost its best member. Time will never be able to erase the memories of this good woman. Mrs Hill converted and united with the Methodist Church in 1901 and has been one of its most faithful members ever since. The church life of the community will miss her. Her many friends join this writer in extending love and sympathy to the bereaved. May the Great Comforter hover near to comfort and cheer them. A Friend"
