W. E. FLOWERS, (Mary Elizabeth), 96, of 1215 First St., a Brown County pioneer, died Sunday in her home. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 10 a. m. in Davis-Morris Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ferris Akins, pastor of Early Baptist Church and the Rev. Jerry Boyd officiating. Burial will be in Jenkins Springs Cemetery. Mrs. Flowers was born Jan. 16, 1866 in Kentucky, the former Mary Riddle, She married W. E. Flowers Nov. 11 1885 in Burkesville, Ky. and they moved to Texas in 1891. The couple lived in Brown County in the Blanket Community until 17 years ago when they moved to the present home. Mr. Flowers died in 1945. Mrs. Flowers was a member of Early Baptist Church. She is survived by three sons, Jim Flowers, Tom Flowers and John Flowers, all of Brownwood ; seven daughters, Mrs. A.V. Lemmons, Mrs. Cleve Haynie, Mrs. Mattie Coppic, Mrs. Charlotte Stone and Mrs. Raymond Parker, all of Brownwood, Mrs. Rhoda Johnson of Athens and Mrs. Ellen Moon of Odessa ; two sisters and one brother, all of Kentucky ; 43 grandchildren ; 71 great-grandchildren and 28 great-great-grandchildren.
