All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgenwebarchives.org ************************************************************* Friday June 1, 1945 Mrs. Laura (Evans) Horton, 86, Blanket Area Pioneer, is Buried Funeral services for Mrs. Laura Ann (Evans) Horton, 86, Route 2, Blanket, were held at Salt Creek Church Thursday at 4:30 pm with Rev. D. A. Barnes officiating. Buriel was in Salt Creek Cemetery, with London & Burton Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Horton, who was a native of Marlin, died at her home in Blanket Wednesday at 3:45 p.m. Born Dec. 13, 1858, Mrs. Horton had lived on the farm where she died for the past 55 years. She was the last of a family of seven children. She had been a member of the Blanket Methodist Church for 75 years. Her husband and five children preceded her in death. Survivors are three sons, Tom Horton and Sam Horton of Big Springs and Bert Horton of Waco. Three daughters, Mrs. Roxie Price of Abilene, Mrs. Amanda Hughes of Blanket, and Mrs. Mabel Byrd of Lometa, and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Luther Henderson, Wallace Price, Neil Davis, Roy Davis, Charlie Tongate, and Norris Doss.
