Rebecca Patsy Chambers, daughter of James and Elsie (Miller) Chambers, was 

born in 1836 in Arkansas and died in 1854 in Texas at the age of 18. Rebecca, 

the first person buried in Smithwick Cemetary, was reportedly was ill while 

traveling with the family of her Sister and Brother-in-law, Nancy (Chambers) 

and Evan G. Evans. She asked to be buried on the flower covered hillside that 

is now Smithwick Cemetary.
