A native of Eula, Texas, near Abilene, she came to California in 1936. She first lived in Pasadena, then moved to Long Beach and back to Pasadena before moving to the San Fernando Valley in 1948, where she lived the rest of her life. She was a resident of Northridge for the last 48 years. Her husband of 43 years, Earl Lawson, died in 1985. She has two sons, Bruce of Northridge; and David of West Hollywood, who died May 24, 1998. She was a very strong Christian who read her Bible all the time, and had attended church regularly at the First Baptist Church of Reseda and later Heart of the Valley Community Church, after it changed its name, for about 15 years. A memorial luncheon will be held at the church, 18644 Sherman Way, Reseda, at 1:00 p.m., on Saturday, June 3, 2006. Everyone is invited to attend.
