(His parents Leandro and Gertrudes Loya de Longoria and his wife, Josefita Solis de Longoria and his children engrave this rememberance to his memory.) “For several weeks after our trip to Mier, Tamaulipas, Mexico, the border country was suspiciously quiet and peaceful. Then suddenly the situation changed. Damacio Longoria, one of our scouts stationed at Santa Maria, Texas, was ambushed and killed and his saddle guns and horse were taken into Mexico by the bandits. He was a good officer and they never could have killed him in any other way except in an ambush.” (Quote Source: Echoes From The Rio Grande by John R.
