N. Nix was born in Barnwell county, S.C., on the 19th of Feb. 1834. She was married to Mr. J.N. Nix on the 10th of July 1850. She joined the church in Aug. 1851, and lived an obedient christian life until the day of her death, which end event took place at Martinsburg, Texas on the 12th of Aug. 1889. Her remains were deposited in the Martinsburg cemetery after appropriate reading and remarks by her pastor, Rev. W.H. Stanley, on the 13th. She was first taken with flux, but after suffering about five weeks she died with slow fever. She leaves a husband and six children; also a host of relatives and friends to mourn her loss. It is sad to part with our dear ones, but we should bow in humble submission and say, "Thy will be done." "The pure in heart shall see God." May her husband and loved ones so live- as to meet her in the "sweet by and by" where parting is no more. W.T. EFURD
