G. A. Hess, Pittsburg Civic Lead, Is Dead
April 6, 1940

Pittsburg, Texas - April 6 - George Aubrey Hess 60, wholesale grocer
and civic leader, died here Saturday following a short illness. He was a
native of Pittsburg and an active leader in the Chamber of Commerce, the
Ferndale Club and the Rotary Club and was a member of the School Board.

Funeral services will be conducted Sunday.

Surviving him are his wife, two sons, Robert Hess, Pittsburg, and
Aubrey Hess, San Angelo; three sisters, Mrs. Pearl Johnson, Pittsburg; Mrs.
VernaRhodes, Fort Worth; Mrs. Frank P. Lockhart, Peiping, China, and six
brothers, Louie B. Hess, Pittsburg; Fred Hess, Oklahoma City; Ross Hess &
H. L. Hess, Mount Pleasant; P. L. Hess, Waco; and Carroll Hess, Clinton,
Oklahoma.
