Long of Pittsburg, died Thursday morning at 7:00 o'clock after an illness of two years. Funeral services were held at the Cason Baptist Church Friday morning at 10:30 o'clock by Rev. J. W. Reeder of Hughes Springs and Rev. J. D. McClung of Mt. Pleasant. Burial was in the Blevins Cemetery. Mr. Long was born in Cason on Sept. 1, 1881. His mother, who was Miss Sara Jane Gaggers before her marriage, was a native of Alabama and came to Texas at eight years of age. His father, David Long, came from Tennessee, and founded one of the pioneer families of this section. Mr. Long was converted at 16 years of age, but it was in 1929 that he united with the Baptist Church of Cason. In 1903 he was married to Miss Gyp Meadows of Cason. They lived in Cason until a few years ago. Mr. and Mrs. Long had ten children, one of whom died in infancy. Mr. Long is survived by Mrs. Long; by his children, Mrs. Louis Travett, Missess Esther Long and Helen Long of Houston, J. D. Long of Grand Saline, Arlie, William, John, James and Kenneth of Pittsburg; by six grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Sallie Dunlap of Cason; and one brother, W. R. Long, of Terrell.
