EMMAUS SCHOOL ROSTER, CHEROKEE COUNTY, TEXAS 

My father, David Lawrence HARRY. lived in Cherokee County. Texas, all 
of his life, his boyhood near Alto, and his adulthood in Jacksonville. 
As a young man, he taught for several years in the rural schools. I 
have his register for Emmaus School, "School #1. District or Community 
#47. County of Cherokee, State of Texas, for year 1907-1908, for the 
term commencing the 30 day of Sept. 1907 and ending the 10 day of 
April 1908." 

I am copying the names of students just as they are spelled in the 
register. It is apparent that either the teacher or some of the 
families, or both, were rather careless or unsure about the spelling
of proper names. Ages are recorded for all except two.
