Dowdle Pension Application Information Comptroller of Public Accounts State of Texas Austin January 3, 1961 Mrs. A. R. Parrott P. O. Box 748 Nacogdoches, Texas Dear Mrs. Parrott: the records of this office reveal that a Mrs. M. A. Dowdle applied from Rusk, Cherokee County, Texas, for a Confederate pension on the 23rd day of September, 1899. the request was granted. Her application states that her husband's name was D. M. Dowdle. She was 61 years old at the time she applied for the pension and had resided in Rusk, Texas for 29 years. She stated that she was married in Mississippi in 1853. Her husband died in Cherokee County in 1870. The application states that her husband served in Company "A" Ochiltree's Regiment, and that he served for a period of eighteen months.
